Digital
Life is an initiative within Daimler to connect people from around the globe working on future digitalization topics.
Once a year every employee can apply with an innovative idea for a business model to pitch in front of the all participants. The best ideas out of the pitches then get video taped and the entire company can vote with virtual money for the idea to be implemented.
I made it to the final stage and was chosen to be video taped to present my business model from the field of micro mobility to all of Daimler.

"Just copy and paste it!"
- Nope, not that easy!
As part of my role as portfolio manager in 2019 I received the task to identify the chances (mainly business potential) and risks to roll out our existing digital services to overseas markets.
The initial idea was follow a copy paste approach for the IT infrastructure and service layers and to set up a mirroring sales and marketing unit in these countries.
After spending weeks in workshops in Brazil, Mexico and India it became more and more clear that the customer demands for software solutions vary as much as they do in hardware between Europe and especially Latin America.
The initial ideal solution to copy and paste our existing approach also failed due to complex variation of IT backend systems. As it is so often the case, pivoting was necessary.
If you want to find out what was the preferred solution in the end, ask me!
To partner-up is key!
In case you were thinking that only finished products in hardware and software would make it to one of the biggest expos for the automotive industry, the IAA, you are wrong.
In 2018 I was doing presentations and showcasing different prototypes that were still in development within the Innovation Lab Mobility Solutions.
Not only was I showing one of the prototypes - a voice controlled user manual - together with our partner startup for that use-case but also got to work with Moovel to present a potential future solution for a passenger application.
